In May 2013, the First German Development Day took place in 16 cities across Germany. Governmental and non-governmental actors such as NGOs, foundations, municipalities, churches, federal states, implementing organisations and companies thus made it clear that they complement each other in their work. In Berlin, about 60 embassies also took part.

The visitors were offered an extraordinary multicultural programme with over 500 actors, numerous projects, hands-on activities, dialogue forums and a varied stage programme. Dunja Hayali and Jörg Thadeusz hosted the closing event in Berlin and presented artists such as Nora Tschirner and Prag, Max Herre and Ivy Quainoo.
